The first time I saw the place on Rio, it wasn’t quite noon. While I didn’t see any sun coming through the windows, I noticed that it seemed bright enough — at least brighter than my current place. Likewise during my home inspection. But during my walk-through, I really noticed the placement of my apartment in the building. Though my place faces slightly eastward, it’s tucked away in a corner, and the way the building is designed, it gets mostly indirect light. And that includes the balcony.
So much for growing tomatoes and herbs.
I was kind of bummed, but then the more I thought about it, the more OK I became. I mean, afternoon sun is H-O-T! And it’s not like I need to tan. I figured I’d just find some plants that thrive in the shade.
But then came this morning.
I’d packed quite a bit of the kitchen last night to deliver early this morning when I went over to meet the carpet cleaner. But before unloading my car, I figured I’d check my mail, go up to turn on the A/C, and maybe plot some furniture placement. I opened the door and what should be streaming through the sliding glass door but the most glorious, golden morning sun!
I so love morning sun. It’s the perfect sun. It’s when it’s comforting and warm, before the heat of the day sets in. When mornings are a little cooler in early spring or late fall, how wonderful will it be to have that cup of coffee or tea out there on the balcony? Or to do sun salutations literally to the sun!
I was thrilled. I am thrilled. It just gets better and better.

I’m heading into the final push. I’m surrounded — literally — by boxes of every size and inventory. And yet it seems I will never quite finish. I had a late night last night and an early morning this morning, so I’m tired. I think I will take a short nap and then get busy. The sooner I get this move over, the sooner I can enjoy that morning sun on the balcony.
